Why AltGenie exists
Most WordPress sites have hundreds or thousands of images, and most of those images have no alt text. The tools to fix it either charge a markup through hosted credits or bolt on a separate dashboard. We built something different.
AltGenie started from a simple observation: accessibility auditing tools find missing alt text everywhere, and the fixes available were either manual (impractical at scale) or hosted-credit SaaS (a markup on top of someone else's API).
We thought site owners deserved better. A tool that lives inside WordPress, understands WooCommerce products and page builders, lets you bring your own API key so cost scales with the real price, and goes past alt text into the rest of image SEO and real accessibility reporting.
It is built for four kinds of teams: individual site owners with large libraries, WooCommerce stores, agencies managing multiple clients, and organizations under real compliance pressure who need to prove their images are accessible — not just have it be true.
What we believe
Accessibility is not optional
The web should be usable by everyone. Alt text is table stakes, not a nice-to-have, and we build accordingly.
No credit lock-in
Bring your own key. You should pay your AI provider's real price, not a markup. That is a principle, not a feature.
Built for agencies
We build for the people managing many sites, not just single owners — because that is where accessibility work actually happens at scale.
WordPress-native
We live inside wp-admin and understand WooCommerce, page builders, and WPML/Polylang — because that is where your images already are.
